How to renew

Renewal notices are posted or emailed if they have registered and signed up. Payment must be made by the due date.
 

How to pay

BPay - Pay via BPay using your internet banking portal. BPay code: 137687
Reference number: Is the animal ID plus a unique digit which is found on the reverse of your renewal notice.

By phone - Call Council on Phone: 8571 1000 to make a credit card payment
 

In person - Pay at Council's customer service centres 

By direct debit - Not available for this account

How to sign up to receive animal renewal notices via email?

eNotices

Residents need to enrol to have a pet registration renewal notice emailed. This needs to be done around 2 days prior to April each year. 

Register for an eNotice

They will be asked to:

  1. Enter your email address and reference number found on your renewal notice
  2. Check your email inbox and click the validation link
  3. Select a password and mobile number.

I registered for to receive a notice by email but have not received it?

The renewal notices are sent about a month prior to the 10th of April each year.

  • Ask the customer to first check their spam or junk emails
  • Then check the details they entered when they registered in enotices. If it's incorrect, they need to update the details or next year they will not receive a notice. It is their responsibility to maintain the details or advise Council. 
  • The customer can complete the form and return it to Council.

When is the animal pet registration annual

Pet registration is renewed by April 10 every year.

Are Assistance Dogs exempt from registration fees?

Assistance dogs, trained to alleviate the effects of the owner's disability, are now exempt from local council registration after legislative changes. This is to acknowledge the important role assistance dogs play in the lives of Victorians and their families, a Governor in Council Order has now been made under the Domestic Animals Act 1994 to exempt eligible assistance dogs from council pet registration fees.

To qualify as an assistance dog

To qualify as an assistance dog the following conditions need to be met

 

The applicant provides the Council with information that confirms that the assistance
dog –

  • is trained to perform tasks or functions that assist a person with a disability to alleviate the effects of their disability (e.g. via a training certificate);
  • is at least 12 months of age;
  • is desexed;
  • has completed obedience training provided by a dog trainer; and
  • is not a restricted breed dog.

Also

  • The assistance dog has not been declared by the Council to be –
    • a dangerous dog; or
    • a menacing dog;

Also

  • The owner of the assistance dog has not been convicted of 2 or more offences under the Domestic Animals Act 1994 with respect to the same assistance dog.
