Nature Strip Maintenance
Council does not maintain naturestrips in front of private property. It is Council's expectation that owners/residents/ maintain the naturestrip in front of their property. Council DOES NOT provide a 'fee for service' to have a naturestrip mowed nor do they do it for elderly residents. Elderly residents can be referred to Community Care Services
CGD will only mow nature strips only when they reach our intervention levels, which are:
- When they are a line of site issue eg if the grass is high enough to impede vision of oncoming traffic from a vehicle exiting a driveway (approx. 1 metre high)
- If the grass is a fire hazard (which is very rare)
- CGD will also cut grass edges on a naturestrip if overgrown edges are severely hampering residents from walking along the footpath
CSO to ask the caller how high the grass is?
If caller advises that grass is 1 metre or higher or is obstructing the view of traffic and/or grass overgrown onto footpath/road severely hampering walking on the path. Only then enter a report.
Note: anonymous reports will not be actioned
