What happens after you report an abandoned vehicle to Council?

If the vehicle is deemed unregistered/abandoned

The council may place a yellow sticker on the vehicle.

They will re-inspect the vehicle after a period of time and arrange the impounding of the vehicle.

In most cases, the Council will notify the registered owner in writing if their vehicle has been towed. If the vehicle is parked in a hazardous location or blocking a driveway, the Council will tow it to ensure public safety and then notify the registered owner.

    If the vehicle is registered

If the vehicle is registered, the Council will identify the vehicle and then wait two months before towing the vehicle.
In most cases, the Council will notify the registered owner in writing if their vehicle has been towed. If the vehicle is parked in a hazardous location or blocking a driveway, the Council will tow it to ensure public safety and then notify the registered owner.
