Has a vehicle been towed away by Council?
In most cases, the Council will notify the registered owner in writing if their vehicle has been towed. If the vehicle is parked in a hazardous location or blocking a driveway, the Council will tow it to ensure public safety and then notify the registered owner.
If a customer believes the Council has towed their vehicle follow this process:
Email CAAdmin@cgd.vic.gov.au with the following details:
- Contact person name and contact number
- Date believed vehicle to have been towed
- Make, Model and Colour or vehicle
- Location address of vehicle believed to be when towed
- registration (if available) of vehicle
The Local Law Officer will call them within 24 hours or 48 hours
Towing away vehicle on land private land
The council has no authority to remove or impound vehicles left on private property. They will need to pursue the matter legally.
