Camping/Caravan on Council Land/Reserve

The council does not provide permits to reside in caravans or tents on Council-owned land for any period.
If suspected that people are residing in caravans or tents on Council land, enter report

Ask and record in the description of the report

  • Is it a caravan or tent or campervan
  • How long have they been residing in it?
  • What is the exact location, e.g on the road, on the footpath, in the park

Camping/Caravan/Campervan on Private Land

Privately owned property and land

A permit is not required to live in temporary dwellings, tents, or caravans on privately owned land or property for a maximum of 28 days in 12 months. Proper sanitary facilities must also be maintained to the satisfaction of a council officer.

The council does not provide permits to reside for more than 28 days in 12 months on private property.

Before you complete the report. The customer will need to have noted the dates they suspect someone of living in the caravan,tent or campervan.
They need to have more than 28 days of recorded dates in 12 months, as no permit is required for up to 28 days.

  • Is it a caravan, tent or campervan?
  • Are you able to provide the dates you suspect the person is residing in the 
  • What is the exact location of the caravan, tent or campervan? e.g in the front garden, in the driveway etc
