Shisha Lounge Permits

Under the Greater Dandenong Planning Scheme, a shisha lounge is considered to be a Place of Assembly and the Applicant will need to apply for a Planning Permit.

Applicant to provide the following information with there application

  • Confirmation that the premises will comply with the Food Standards Code;

 

  • Applicant will need to demonstrate that there will be no detrimental impact on the amenity of the neighbourhood, including noise from patrons and vehicles (particularly late at night), litter, light pollution and anti-social behaviour;

 

  • Applicant will need to demonstrate a net community benefit in relation to the health and wellbeing of the residents of the municipality.

 

  • Applicant may also be required to provide additional car parking spaces.


If granted a Planning Permit the Applicant will not be permitted to sell or use any shisha that contains tobacco as this is prohibited under the Tobacco Act 1987.
