Which trap is required for Council to pickup a stray cats?

We pick up stray cats if they are contained in council-approved Cat Traps. They go to the property with an empty trap which interlocks with the hired trap. The cat is then encouraged to go into the Officers trap.

The trap is not hired through Council but it is indentical to the one hired at Council?

As we are unable to establish what the customer trap looks like, email animalmanagement@cgd.vic.gov.au
The animal ranger will contact the customer to see if we can collect the cat. DO not enter a merit.

Why do Rangers not collect cats without cat traps?

As cats carry diseases that can be very harmful to humans, rangers cannot handle the cat themselves.

Extreme circumstances - customer unable to hire trap

Note: If the customer is disabled, unable to leave their house, or elderly, and has no one to assist with hiring a trap for them, this would be considered an extreme circumstance.

CSO:

Inform the customer that you will be sending a message to the Animal Management team to explore other possible options. They will contact the customer directly to let them know if assistance can be provided.
