A local laws officer may issue a Notice to Comply when a local law is being breached. Notices are generally issued for matters such as:
- litter/grass/garden is required to be cleaned up (derelict/unsightly premises)
- trees are required to be cut back due to footpath obstruction
- Graffiti on a front fence
When a Notice to Comply is issued, a time limit will be placed on the notice. If the works have not been completed by the due date, the officer may issue a fine to the owner or occupier of the subject property. The officer may also arrange for the required works to be undertaken. The cost of the works will then be charged to the owner of the property.
