Restricted dog breeds
- American Pit Bull Terrier (or Pit Bull Terrier)
- Fila Brasileiro
- Japanese Tosa
- Dogo Argentino
- Perro de Presa Canario (or Presa Canario)
Only the American Pit Bull Terrier (or Pit Bull Terrier) and Dogo Argentino are known to be in Victoria.
Dog Registration Fees
Dogs will be registered until 9 April 2025. All fees below include the $4.15 State Government Levy.
Counter
- Check Pet Registration form has been completed
- Check acceptable proof of microchipping, see below
- Reduced fee is not applicable for restricted dogs
- Advise customer that they will be contacted by REG SERV Animal Control
- DO NOT TAKE PAYMENT, DO NOT ISSUE TAG AND REDUCED FEE IS NOT APPLICABLE
- Complete office use box on the application form.
- Write tag number on relevant documents
- Date stamp documents and scan to Records
All emailed or online applications go directly to Regserv for processing.
Processing Time:
The process can take up to 10 days. If the customer has not been contacted to pay via a link, email regservi using the phone message template to follow up with the customer.
How to Pay:
If a payment is required, the pet owner will receive an SMS at the number provided on the application form. The SMS will contain a link they can click to pay directly online. If they call, we can also process the payment for them.
If No Animal ID Number is Provided:
- Go to P & R via property search > associations > the animal should be listed.
- Click on the animal to obtain the animal ID number.
- Process the receipt as usual using the animal ID number.
Phone
Advise customer that this payment cannot be processed over the phone. They will need to submit Pet Registration form

Acceptable proof for microchipping
- Certificate confirming microchipping
- Valid microchipping invoice from the vet, documentation must have microchip number recorded
- Microchip number sticker, must be attached to the form
Not acceptable:
- Microchip number recorded on the registration form without supporting documentation
- A letter or statutory declaration from the owner of the pet
