How to identify the owner:

  • Go to 'Property and Rating' and search via animal ID or address where the animal lives
  • Ask the customer to confirm the details of ownership.
  • Also confirm with they know some of the details of the animal, like the name of the pet, breed, colour, etc
They only need to answer 2 questions correctly.

After you are satisfied you are speaking with the owner of the pet

We do not offer refund if transferring to another Council but they can check with the other council if they will need to pay a registration with them.
If they have a receipt and wish to submit that to the other council as proof of payment. If the other council requires confirmation from us, then email CAAdmin@cgd.vic.gov.au to provide something in writing to the customer.

Fee: this will be determined by Reg Services when they liaise with the customer.
